My eyes swollen shut, an unrelenting itch overwhelms my eyes, throat and nose. I am 6 years old and suffer terrible hay fever... For years I suffered, taking 'anti-histamines', mowing lawns and playing outdoor sports. My immune system was in a constant state of overdrive, until I starting seeing a herbalist. As time passed and my allergies dissipated, I realized that it was possible to heal issues and that the management of allergies was clearly not how I wanted to live my life. I don't want to take pills for the rest of my life when there is a way to heal and repair.

10 years later an unknown illness forced me to enter the western medical system(allopathic) again. I became a pin cushion for 4 years until I was finally diagnosed with Celiac Disease. I was offered life long pills again and by this point in my life I was convinced by my experiences that pills are not always the first choice and again there were other options. While the allopathic medical system has saved many lives in certain circumstances their tools are surgery and prescriptions. While some diseases may require medication it became clear that the allopathic systems' reliance on medication was overbearing. The bridge to both allopathic to alternative for me was Osteopathy.

As my individual life experience consistently showed and proved to me, there were other options. During a treatment, studying Osteopathy was suggested to me by my Manual Osteopathic Practitioner. I was on the receiving end of many therapies due to a multitude of sports injuries and car accidents. At that time, for various reasons, studying Osteopathy was not accessible to me,  but CranioSacral therapy, a modality osteopathic in foundation, presented itself. A multi-facetted modality that focused on the body's natural abilities from both wholistic & holistic philosophies. Philosophies that explores the possibilities that the body can repair naturally and resolve issues at their core with a heathy lifestyle that is based on nutrition(food as medicine), exercise, meditation and the help of manual therapy.

I am now an Upledger trained Certified Advanced CranioSacral Therapist, an Upledger Speaker, Teaching Assistant and a student of Osteopathic Medicine. I am continuously learning Osteopathy from many teachers/teachings and will consider myself a student of CST & Osteopathy for the remainder of my life or career. I am passionate about the interconnectedness of the natural world and potentials that exists.

What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a form of drug-free non-invasive manual medicine(therapy) that focuses on total body health by treating and strengthening the musculoskeletal framework, which includes the connective tissues, joints, muscles and spine. Its aim is to positively affect the body's nervous, circulatory and lymphatic systems. Osteopathy can make profound changes in a person’s health.

Osteopathic philosophy based on principals:

The body is a unit, structure and function are interconnected.

The body has an inherent capacity to self-regulate, defend and repair itself.

When an individuals' 'normal' system is overloaded, whether due to physical, emotional, psychological or environmental issues, capacity for self regulation, defense, and repair are then limited and dis-ease may occur.
